New Easy Diet: Sleep Diet!

Researchers have linked sleep problems with weight-loss problems. It was ascertained that the less people sleep, the more they run the risk of becoming obese. So, the hottest recommended easy diet is sleep diet these days.

Normally, one would say that this theory is not logical as, while asleep, you burn fewer calories. But what determines good effects of sleep on the body weight is the regulation of bodily chemicals during sleep. Thus, scientists have discovered that sleep deprivation lowers the leptin level and raises the grehlin one. Leptin is a blood protein that suppresses appetite operating in the brain and affecting the way the brain perceives the satiety feeling. Grehlin is a substance that makes people want to eat and it rises when the body is deprived of sleep.

The study was performed by researchers at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health and the Obesity Research Center on the basis of the data taken from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey I (from the 1980s). It was presented at the North American Association for the Study of Obesity (NAASO)'s Annual Scientific Meeting held November 14-18.

The study analyzes the habits of persons between ages of 32 and 59. According to this study, four hours of sleep result in an increased risk of obesity with 73 percent towards those who sleep between seven to nine hours. People who sleep five hours are more likely to become obese with 50 percent, and those who get six hours of sleep each night present a 23 percent greater risk.

Others see this problem from a different angle: there are opinions sustaining that good sleeping habits can be beneficent for weight-loss. But this theory is based not on scientific studies, but on a logical chain of common-sense deductions, that is, going to sleep to a "decent" hour and keeping a fix sleeping schedule will allow you to make the most profit out of your resting hours and at the same time to wake up a little earlier in the morning so as to maintain a morning exercising routine, essential for losing weight.

May all of this not count, there is still a grain of truth to it - a funny twist: it is that simple! the more you sleep the less you eat, you cannot eat while sleeping, can you?
